Job Overview: Working alongside our client, a successful injection moulding manufacturer we are searching for a Process Engineer to join their team.

Role: As a Process Engineer you will be required to support validation of new and modified equipment and processes, to provide process improvements and fault identification/correction to production. The successful candidate will hold recognised injection moulding certification (BPTA/RJG/PTIC) and will be able to lead advanced tool trials, machine conditioning & optimisation, cycle time improvements & scrap reduction. As a Process Engineer you will also have an input into factory floor configuration which will include ancillaries & mould machine tools/design.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct process trials and validation on new or modified mould processes
  • Provide technical training to Setters & Operators in the use of moulding machines, tools, ancillary equipment and documentation
  • Maintain and ensure safe working conditions for self and others
  • To identify and implement where necessary, improvements to process, quality or cost effectiveness of the moulding operation
  • Liaison with internal associates and external suppliers
  • Fault finding and problem solving/troubleshooting of development and production processes
  • To keep up to date with technology and developments in plastics processing
  • Support OEE & production improvement initiatives
  • Project planning and management for new product introduction and new equipment introduction
  • Develop, implement & achieve Engineering strategy’s & objectives
  • Liaison between Production, Technical, Engineering, QA and Maintenance
  • Management of plastic injection tooling modification including budget control

Leadership Management:

  • Manage, motivate and drive site employees
  • Effectively work with the HR Department to ensure all staff training and development needs are identified and met through the implementation of the company’s performance review process
  • Ensure that all company employment relations policies and procedure are implemented at all times
  • Having a pragmatic, hands-on approach with leadership skills being highly visible at all times

Communication:

  • Ensure that effective and regular communication takes place between teams and individuals
  • Hold regular team communication forums and ensure that relevant business information is communicated effectively and cascaded throughout area of responsibility
  • Develop and foster good working relationships with peers

Health & Safety:

  • Effectively ensure that all health & safety regulations and practices are met and adhered to for the safety of employees
  • Ensure that full co-operation is given to the Health & Safety Manager in relation to risk assessment and accident reporting incidences

General Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all health & safety requirements
  • Comply with all other company policies & procedures
  • Take responsibility for personal development, identify training needs and request appropriate training as required
  • Work closely with the HR and Quality Department to deliver appropriate standards in line with company policies
  • Deliver a seamless interface with internal and external customers as required

Skills & Experiences:

  • Minimum 5 years Plastic Injection Moulding Process Engineering experience that includes asset care, acquisition, and improvement related to plastic injection moulding machines, tooling, automation and process infrastructure
  • HNC/HND/Degree level in polymer/materials science with a demonstrable track record if completing formal training in plastics processing (BPTA, G&A or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of Scientific Injection Moulding disciplines with tool design and polymer experience/knowledge
  • Capable of reading and monitoring data from mould cavity process monitoring curves to determine quality of process
  • Working knowledge of statistical tools, including Design of Experiences, R&R and capability indices using Minitab
  • Six Sigma tool kit practitioner
  • Proficiency in CAD systems such as AutoCAD would be an advantage
  • Be self-motivated and confident with taking responsibility for all areas of work
  • Sound decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Proven project management skills
  • Excellent analytical skills in order to monitor and manage KPI’s, along with good IT, written and verbal communication skills
  • Have the drive and desire to drive forward improvements to ensure the company continues to manufacture high quality products
  • Ability to interface and communicate effectively with all levels of employees, management and diverse audiences, including suppliers and internal/external customers
  • Knowledge of the Lean Six Sigma toolkit including, Kaizen, Kanban, 5s, DMAIC, TPM and Value Stream Mapping
