Job Overview: Working alongside our client, a successful injection moulding manufacturer we are searching for an Injection Moulding Technician to join their team.

Overview: As an Injection Moulding Technician, you must have several years’ experience with setting, conditioning, maintenance & process optimisation of Injection Moulding machines working with a wide range of materials. The Injection Moulding Technician will be responsible for all aspects of tool changing in the injection moulding department, be responsible for all aspects of process control and ensuring that the quality of products is achieved to the standards required.

Purpose of the role:

  • Assist the shift with operating the injection moulding machines, ancillaries and automated assembly machines
  • Ensure machinery is safe, checked in accordance with maintenance logs and repaired with either permanently or temporarily in conjunction with the Maintenance Department

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Plastic injection moulding tool setting/tool changes to conform with the companies safe working practices and procedures
  • Assist the shift with operating the injection moulding machines, ancillaries and automated assembly machines
  • Ensure machinery is safe, checked in accordance with maintenance logs and repaired with permanently or temporarily in conjunction with the Maintenance Department
  • Modify processes, where necessary, in order to achieve maximum production rates and quality standards
  • To conform to the company’s culture and employee practice
  • Liaise with the Setter Supervisor, Team Leader, Planning and Quality Department, Toolroom, Maintenance and other team members and other shifts with regards to tool changes, setting, operating procedures and general running requirements
  • Perform tool changes/setting and the application of ancillaries in line with production requirements
  • Attend meetings and communicate effectively with all departments
  • Perform safe interim repairs in the absence of Maintenance and the Toolroom
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, clean and tidy environment for yourself and others
  • Complete training when required
  • Perform any other reasonable task required by the Setter Supervisor, Team Leader, Senior Managers or Directors
  • Work with your departmental manager and team members to identify, implement and drive actions to continuous improvement
  • Provide/suggest improvements in relation to safety, efficiency and good working practices in the factory
  • Utilise LEAN skills and techniques, for example, 5s, Visual Management, Kanban & Kaizen
  • Compliance with all Health & Safety legislation and relevant industry methods, procedures, good practices etc

Qualifications and Other Skills:

  • Trained to the equivalent of Modules 1, 2 & 3 by G&A, RJG, PTIC or BPTA including up to date machinery control systems, and experience of Hot Runner systems
  • Considerable experience on injection moulding/tool-setting experience with a recognised company
  • Adequate experience of ancillaries such as material feed systems, masterbatch dosing, chillers, mould heathers, pick and place robotic systems, granulators, conveyors etc
  • Experience of running automatic assembly lined would be an advantage
  • Plastics raw material knowledge (handling, processing etc)
  • The applicant ideally would have experience in a manufacturing environment and have the ability to work in a high-pressure site
  • Must be able to work effectively, communicate with others and be willing to work as part of a team
