Job Overview: Working alongside our client, an established plastic packaging manufacturer, we are looking for a Development Engineer to join their successful team.


  • The role of Development Engineer is manage and assist in development and engineering projects and to provide second line support to the Engineering Team
  • As a Development Engineer this position is not solely office based and the successful candidate will require a hands on approach
  • This is a great for an individual looking to work for a growing and stable company who place their people at the forefront of the company.



  • To identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations to improve machine and process effectiveness
  • To assist in managing engineering projects from inception through to completion, including;
  • Writing equipment specifications
  • Managing all appropriate resources
  • Implementing and monitoring
  • Compliance with budgetary limitations
  • Effective hand over to production
  • To adhere to company Health and Safety requirements
  • This position is not solely office based and requires a hands-on approach 


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Timed served engineer, preferably electrical although training will be provided
  • Ideally, a good working knowledge of PLC and servo control systems
  • Understand and be able to work with Pneumatics and Hydraulics
  • Good computer skills, CAD systems, ideally Auto-Cad would be desirable
  • Has experience on installing and commissioning new pieces of equipment
  • Good understanding in all aspects of Health & Safety, including control of contractors
  • Proven ability to work and deliver to agreed timescales

  • Self motivated and work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • The analytical ability to approach, manage and solve problems of varying levels of complexity
  • Be prepared to take a hands on approach to the work
  • Good communication and organisation skills
