Understanding Polymer Materials Within the Processing Window
Injection Moulding Process
As most of us are aware the injection moulding process, as with most other polymer conversion processes, have four main inputs:
- Machine
- Mould or Die.
- Process inputs.
- Material.
With other materials manufacturing industries such as metallurgy and ceramics industries, greater emphasis is placed upon the understanding of and training surrounding the material in question. The UK Polymer Conversion industry has been slow to recognise the importance of training against the very material that we ask our setters, technicians and process engineers to work with and process on a daily basis.
Understanding how polymer materials work
Understanding how polymer works, it’s Non-Newtonian characteristics and flow behaviour impact significantly on every aspect of the process from cycle time to product quality and in service performance. To help combat the current skills shortage and fill the knowledge gap Sierra 57 Consult has developed a range of modular Polymer Materials based training programmes aimed at all levels of understanding and accredited by The Institute of Materials (IoM3):
- Basic Materials Concepts.
- Polymers and Additives.
- Crystallinity and Morphology.
- Tg and Design Influences.
- Fluid Dynamics.
These progressive, modular courses are half or full day in duration and are aimed at all personnel both technical and non-technical wishing to improve their current understanding of Polymer materials.
Please register your interest to attend one or more of these popular modular programmes by contacting hi@sierra57training.com
