Job Overview: Working alongside our client, an established manufacturer of plastic packaging solutions, we are looking for an experienced Shift Manager with an understanding of plastics and/or food manufacturing, people development & production planning, to join their team.
Role: The role of Shift Manager will be to proactively lead, develop & mentor a small production team to meet Shift KPI’s and meet production demand, adhere to Good & Safe working practices, co-ordinate materials planning & control, production planning & control whilst liaising with other departments and ensure effective communications with Logistics & Warehousing operations.
Responsibilities:
- Working in accordance with the company’s BRC IOP Certification, Health & Safety rules, GMP & housekeeping standards
- Managing and leading a team of thermoforming machine operators and production staff
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members according to production schedules and priorities
- Provide training and guidance to ensure that all employees understand their roles and can perform them effectively
- Communicate effectively with other Shift Managers, Supervisors and Departments to coordinate production activities
- Coordinate production activities to meet daily, weekly and monthly targets
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs with maintenance staff
- Liaising with the Planning department to satisfy customer requirements.
- Responsible for ensuring the product quality against standard is maintained.
- Working with the Production Manager to identify and improve process, procedure & production line performance
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
- Complete various production and Quality focussed records in accordance with the Company requirements
- Enforce safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries
Personal Profile & Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar role within FMCG environment,
- Computer Literacy use of MS Excel, MS Word & Power point.
- Experience of Quality management system BRC or ISO
- Experience of World Class / Lean manufacturing
- Demonstrate continuous improvement initiatives
- Basic Process fault finding and rectification techniques
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, work on own initiative
- Flexible approach to working hours
- Ability to problem solve
Distinct advantages:
- Working experience of Thermoforming/Vacuum forming
- Engineering Qualification / Time Served
- Experience of PET & PP materials
- HACCP, Quality Management Training, Internal Auditor certificate or similar
- Experience within same industry at similar level
- First Aid qualification
